Fediverse is not a single social network, but a network of them (each on its own server). Crucially, they are all interoperable. This means:

1. You can follow people from other servers and otherwise interract with them, just as if you were on the same server.
2. If you don't like anything on your own server, you can just move your account elsewhere.

You won't find adds in fediverse. There are no algorythmic feeds designed mess with your dopamine levels. You control who you follow, and who can interract with you. There is no tracking.

If some server decides to break these rules, users will move elsewhere, and the rest of the servers will just disconnect from it.It's what social media should be.

Here is a short guide about how to join jointhefediverse.net.

1. On my blog, there is a file feed.xml with this information:
   • When was the last update.
   • What’s new.
   • How often you should check for new content.
2. On your machine (phone or computer), you have a program (typically browser extension or an app) that regularly connects to my blog and checks this file. If there is anything new, it will notify you. There are also web app feed readers.

That’s it. You don’t have to remember to check whether there is something new. You don’t have to give anyone your email and wade through spam. You don't login anywhere, there is no tracking. You have control over your own attention. In my phone, I use the Feeder app. Here is a short intro to rss.
